Preschool Group PIano
Rated 5.0 ★★★★★ by 6 happy members
Preschool Piano Groups are great for kids with no attention span, are interested in music, but aren’t sure where to start. At the Piano Lab, students in the Preschool Group Piano classes don’t have to read yet, know their lefts & rights, or any numbers.
“Since changing piano teachers, my son no longer cries in frustration when he has to practice. Caelyn’s less traditional style of teaching gets him learning while having fun.”

But my child doesn’t have a long enough attention span for lessons…
Lessons are designed for short attention spans – Each activity is brief and engaging, shifting focus every few minutes to keep young children interested.
Movement-based learning –I incorporate movement and interactive activities inspired by Music Learning Theory to help kids stay engaged while learning musical concepts.
Hands-on exploration – Children learn through play, discovery, and exploration rather than long periods of sitting and listening.
No pressure, just fun – The goal is to build a positive connection with music, not to force concentration beyond their natural ability.
Flexible structure – If a child needs a moment to reset, I adapt and keep things light and enjoyable.
Social and emotional development – Learning in this setting helps improve focus over time, while also encouraging listening, turn-taking, and following simple instructions.
Success at their level – I celebrate small wins and let each child engage at their own pace, building confidence and attention span naturally.
Music is naturally engaging – Rhythm, singing, and hands-on activities capture attention in ways that traditional learning might not.

Hi I’m Caelyn, Your Music Teacher
I grew up learning music in a formal, classical setting, and that experience has shaped the way I teach today. While I value the structure and discipline that come with classical training, I also believe that music should be enjoyable and accessible to everyone. My goal is to create an environment where students not only develop strong musical skills but also build a lifelong love for playing.
One of the ways I do this is through group lessons. Learning alongside others fosters a sense of community, helps students stay motivated, and makes the learning process more fun. Students who feel connected to their peers tend to stick with lessons longer, which ultimately leads to greater musical growth.
I also believe students should play music that excites them. While I introduce them to classical and foundational repertoire, I encourage them to bring in songs they love—whether it’s a favorite pop song, a movie theme, or something they heard on social media. When students feel personally invested in the music they play, they’re more likely to practice, improve, and stay engaged.
Finally, I’m always learning and growing as a teacher. Whether it’s exploring new teaching methods, refining my curriculum, or finding fresh ways to inspire my students, I believe that great teaching starts with being a lifelong student myself. My goal is to create a space where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to make music every day.

What is a Preschool Piano Class like?
I know your child learns best when they’re actively engaged and having fun! That’s why my preschool piano class is designed to keep your child’s attention while building a strong foundation in music.
Each 45-minute class follows a rhythm that keeps young minds curious and excited—we start with a fun song time to get everyone moving and singing, followed by a piano review where your child builds confidence in what they’ve learned, and builds their own new song. Then, it’s back to another engaging song time before we dive into a brand-new piano piece! At the end of class, we introduce next week’s song with a little “cliffhanger” to spark their anticipation.
Your child won’t just be sitting at the piano the whole time—I make sure they’re actively experiencing music through movement, rhythm, and play. This play-based approach helps them develop their ears, fingers, and creativity all at once!
I can’t wait to make music with your child. Come join me!
Here are a few videos from our class so you can see our singing time, piano time, and one of our recital pieces the students performed.
