“We absolutely love The Piano Lab and Caelyn. Our son is in 2nd grade and started working with Caelyn when he was in 1st. He has grown so much as a pianist and in learning music. I would 100% recommend Caelyn- she is patient, kind, engaging, educated, and fun. My son looks forward to his weekly lessons!

Should My Student Take Private or Group Lessons?
I highly recommend that students start with group or buddy lessons. While private lessons are an option, I’ve seen over and over how much better kids do when they learn in a group setting first. Here’s why:
They’ll actually want to practice! When kids see their friends playing the same songs and having fun, they’re way more excited to practice at home. It feels like a game instead of a chore!
They’ll stick with it longer. I’ve noticed that kids in group lessons stay with piano way longer than those who start with private lessons. They just have more fun and don’t get bored as easily!
No pressure, just fun. In a private lesson, all eyes are on your child, which can feel intimidating. In a group, they get to learn alongside others, which builds confidence without the pressure. This usually leads to them progressing more quickly as well.
They learn essential music skills early. Playing with others helps kids develop rhythm, listening skills, and coordination in a way that private lessons just can’t. These skills make solo playing so much easier later on!
More excitement, less frustration. Learning something new can be tough, but when kids see their friends facing the same challenges, they’re less likely to get discouraged and more likely to push through.
You won’t have to fight them to come to lessons! Seriously—kids love coming back each week because they see it as a social and creative experience, not just another class.
Group lessons give your child the best start on their piano journey—more fun, more motivation, and a strong foundation that will set them up for success!

Hi I’m Caelyn, Your Music Teacher
I grew up learning music in a formal, classical setting, and that experience has shaped the way I teach today. While I value the structure and discipline that come with classical training, I also believe that music should be enjoyable and accessible to everyone. My goal is to create an environment where students not only develop strong musical skills but also build a lifelong love for playing.
One of the ways I do this is through group lessons. Learning alongside others fosters a sense of community, helps students stay motivated, and makes the learning process more fun. Students who feel connected to their peers tend to stick with lessons longer, which ultimately leads to greater musical growth.
I also believe students should play music that excites them. While I introduce them to classical and foundational repertoire, I encourage them to bring in songs they love—whether it’s a favorite pop song, a movie theme, or something they heard on social media. When students feel personally invested in the music they play, they’re more likely to practice, improve, and stay engaged.
Finally, I’m always learning and growing as a teacher. Whether it’s exploring new teaching methods, refining my curriculum, or finding fresh ways to inspire my students, I believe that great teaching starts with being a lifelong student myself. My goal is to create a space where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to make music every day.

What is a group Piano Class like?
I know your child learns best when they’re actively engaged and having fun! That’s why my preschool piano class is designed to keep your child’s attention while building a strong foundation in music.
Each 45-minute class follows a rhythm that keeps young minds curious and excited—we start with a fun song time to get everyone moving and singing, followed by a piano review where your child builds confidence in what they’ve learned, and builds their own new song. Then, it’s back to another engaging song time before we dive into a brand-new piano piece! At the end of class, we introduce next week’s song with a little “cliffhanger” to spark their anticipation.
Your child won’t just be sitting at the piano the whole time—I make sure they’re actively experiencing music through movement, rhythm, and play. This play-based approach helps them develop their ears, fingers, and creativity all at once!
I can’t wait to make music with your child. Come join me!
Here are a few videos from our class so you can see our singing time, piano time, and one of our recital pieces the students performed.
